COC Confident of Pearl Rally 2017 Routes
It is all going to depend on skills, maturity, calmness and experience as rally drivers will have to prove their skills battle it out in 12 competitive stages totaling to 212 km and liaison section of 248km of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda rally.
Scrutineering of cars will be on Thursday June 29, 2017 starting at 8am and On Friday the event will start with first three sections in Nakifuma and Busiika.
Unlike in the past, this time the Busiika special stage will be the second section and drivers will first show case in Nakifuma section covering a distance of 18km.
On day two the competitors will face-face in the remaining nine sections of the event that is the fourth Africa rally championship and fifth on the national rally championship.
Course (COC) Jeff Kabagambe confirmed this and that 80 percent of the routes are closed as per the world motorsport governing body (FIA) recommendations.
“We managed to get a commendable distance of closed routes which gives me confidence of having an accident free event,” Kabagambe said.
The 19th edition of the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally has attracted drivers from Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Burundi and Belgium who will be out to challenge local crews including Shell ambassadors Ssebuguzi, Blick and Omar Mayanja.
Uganda‘s Hassan Alwi navigated by Enock Olinga in a Subaru N14 won last year’s event.
