Kanangire’s interest in rallying began at a young age, inspired by attending a rally event in Huye when he was about eight years old. His path into the sport started behind the scenes, working as a timekeeper in 2009. This role provided him with a strong understanding of rally operations and the dynamics of the sport.

In 2017, he transitioned into competitive driving, making an immediate impression by finishing sixth in his debut event against more experienced competitors. This performance highlighted his natural talent and marked the beginning of his steady rise in rallying.

Career Progression:
Over the years, Kanangire has developed from a mid-field competitor into a dominant figure in Rwanda’s rally scene. His consistency, pace, and determination have earned him several notable achievements, including:

• Victories in key events such as the Huye Rally and Gako Sprint Rally

International Breakthrough:
Kanangire achieved a major milestone on the international stage by becoming the first Rwandan driver to successfully finish a round of the World Rally Championship at the Safari Rally Kenya 2026. Competing against top-level international drivers, he not only completed the event but also secured a podium finish in the ARC2 category. This achievement was significant for both his career and the growth of Rwandan motorsport, demonstrating the potential of emerging talent from the country of a thousand hills.
