Aine Sodo Kaguta stands among Uganda’s most recognizable gentleman rally drivers, a man who blends politics, business leadership, and motorsport passion into one powerful identity. Whether in campaign mode or competition mode, Sodo carries the presence of a crowd favorite wherever he goes.

Sodo is a rare breed in Uganda motorsport a man who can ask for votes on Monday, ask mechanics for turbo pressure on Tuesday, and ask marshals where the time card is on Wednesday. When he enters a rally, fans know there will be speed, dust, and enough headlines to fill both sports pages and political pages. In politics, they count ballots. In rallying, they count seconds. Sodo has experience with both, though in rallying the opposition usually arrives in helmets instead of suits.

Competing under the Sodo Racing Team banner, he has worked with several experienced navigators over the years to sharpen pace and consistency. His recent partnership with Uthman Mohammed adds experience, calmness, and strong stage communication to the cockpit. Some say Uthman is the only man allowed to give Sodo instructions at high speed and survive.

His famous weapons of choice include the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X machines with enough power to overtake traffic, opposition, and sometimes common sense. The Evo X especially is known to arrive like a ministerial convoy: loud, fast, and everyone moves aside.. His return in a newer Evo X after time away from active rallying created major buzz among motorsport supporters nationwide.

Beyond racing, Sodo has also used motorsport as a platform for national visibility. One of his notable appearances came when his rally car carried tourism branding promoting Uganda as a travel destination. It showed how rallying can move beyond sport and become a vehicle for tourism, business, and national pride.
