Musa Sseggaabwe Set to Unveil New Skoda Fabia RS N5 in MPU Mbale Thriller
By Rhonnie Nkalubo Abraham-
Mbale is bracing for yet another electrifying motorsport weekend as rising rally stars Musa Sseggaabwe and codriver Mathias Kiyegga prepare to officially unveil their new beast, the Skoda Fabia RS N5, at the opening round of the KCB National Rally Championship which kicks off this weekend in Mbale..
Popularly known as “Segamu Airways,” Sseggaabwe, alongside co-driver Mathius Kiyegga, have steadily built a reputation as one of the fastest-rising crews in Ugandan rallying. Their meteoric rise began in the CRC category, where they stormed through the 2024 season in a Mitsubishi Evo 9, eventually clinching the championship in style.

Their promotion to the National Rally Championship (NRC) in 2025 came with both excitement and skepticism, as many questioned whether the crew could match the pace of the elite class. However, the pair wasted no time in silencing doubters. At the season opener in Mbarara, the Lumala @60 Mum @90 Rally, they not only fulfilled their promise of planting trees across all seven championship rounds but also delivered impressive performances on the stages.
Their campaign saw them survive a terrifying near-crash in Hoima 2024 and went on to dominate their division in 2025, and ultimately securedS a remarkable NRC podium finish coming in just behind rally giants Ronald Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa.
While fans were still enjoying the power and consistency of their Mitsubishi Evo 9, the ambitious crew had already shifted focus to the next level. Earlier this year, they unveiled the Skoda Fabia RS N5, a machine built by RMC Motorsport in Spain, signaling their intent to compete closer to Rally2-level performance.

The crew has since conducted extensive testing both in Europe and on Ugandan soil, working to understand and adapt to the car’s demanding characteristics. Sseggaabwe previously indicated that more seat time and fine-tuning were necessary, which had initially pointed to using their trusted “Flying Evo” for the Mbale event.
The competition at the season opener is expected to be intense, with a strong entry list featuring reigning African champion Yasin Nasser, experienced competitor Hassan Alwi, crowd favorite Duncan Mubiru, and the in-form Oscar Ntambi, fresh from success in the ARC2 category at the Safari Rally.
In a dramatic turn of events, excitement has surged once again after confirmation that the Segamu 14 Consults Ltd-sponsored crew will indeed debut the Skoda Fabia RS N5 in Mbale. The RMC technical team is already in the country and has cleared the car as fully ready for competition.
With 34 crews confirmed for the event, the field is further strengthened by international entries including Rwandan rally star Queen Kalimpinya and Italian-born Ethiopian driver Valeri, both eager to make an impact on the Ugandan championship.
As the rally heads into the Elgon region on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th, all eyes will be on Sseggaabwe and Kiyegga not just for their performance, but for the much-anticipated debut of a machine that could redefine their championship ambitions.
