Two New Routes Added to POAUR 2017
The organising committee of the prestigious Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda rally in Luweero and Kayunga districts has cancelled the 30Km Nakyesa stage and created two stages, Bwakedde and Lwasa stages.
New Distance
The creation of Bwakedde and Lwasa stages has also increased the distance for the competitive stages to 245km from the previous 212km.
Good News for Spectators.
“Yes we have now Bwakedde and Lwasa stages which are semi closed but good for spectators because their start point and Finishing points are just opposite each other,” Clerk of the cause Jeff Kabagambe confirmed the development.
“The rules allows us to make changes but this was not our decision but the Sugar Cane plantations management who said they are in harvest period and that section will be busy with trucks,” Kabagambe explained.
“We still have the stages of Kitwe, Metha and Lugasa 100percent closed while others are semi-closed and actually for Bwakedde the drivers will be seeing river Nile 50m away from the road,” Kabagambe explains.
Fifty two crews confirmed their participation in this year’s event that is the 19 edition of Pearl Rally, but is the fourth round of the Africa Rally championship (ARC) and the fifth round of the National Rally championship (NRC).
The event is co-sponsored by Shell V-Power, Hima Cement and Lato Milk.
