When it comes to loyalty, Haruna Kataza deserves a medal from Subaru headquarters. Some drivers change cars like shirts, but Kataza has stayed faithful to the Subaru badge like a man in a lifelong marriage. If Subaru ever opens a fan club in Uganda, he should automatically be chairman.

Haruna is one of those drivers who needs no loud introduction. Since bursting onto the rally scene in 2023, he has quickly built a reputation as a fearless and naturally quick competitor. What makes his pace even more impressive is that he often does it in machinery many would call “inferior.” But tell that to Kataza, because every time he straps into his trusty N8, it suddenly starts behaving like it has hidden turbo magic.

At the opening round of the KCB NRC this season, Kataza left many shocked with blistering speed, proving that talent can sometimes embarrass horsepower. Rivals were busy checking engine bays while Kataza was already gone in a cloud of dust.

A major reason for this rise has been his new partnership with experienced co-driver David Mwesigwa. The chemistry between the two clicked instantly. David reads notes like a school teacher on exam day, while Kataza attacks stages like rent is due tomorrow. Together, they are already looking like one of the most dangerous pairings in the championship.
